# Why your number says Scam Likely and how to fix it

Carrier analytics label numbers that make many short calls. Register your number, fix your calling pattern, or start fresh.

Your team is calling from K3X and people stop answering. Some say their phone showed Scam Likely, Spam Risk or Telemarketer. Carrier analytics labeled your number. It is fixable, and prevention beats cure.

## Why it happens

US carriers (T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon) score every outbound call in real time using analytics partners. The engines look at:

- How many calls your number makes per hour, day and week.

- How many calls last under six seconds, a proxy for ignored or declined calls.

- Spam reports from recipients.

- Whether the number is registered with the analytics partners.

- Whether the call passed STIR/SHAKEN attestation, a cryptographic signature that proves the calling number is yours.

A new number starts with medium trust. Many short calls early on sink the score fast, and once labeled, the label sticks.

## The fix, in order of impact

### 1\. Register your numbers with the carrier analytics partners

Registration tells T-Mobile, AT&T and the other carriers who is behind the number and what it is used for. Registered numbers start with higher trust and are far less likely to be labeled. Ask in the SUPPORT chat to register a number. We collect your business name and address, the number's use case (sales outbound, support) and your typical volume, and file it for you. Processing takes about three to seven business days. Any registry fee is passed through at cost and shown before you confirm.

### 2\. Branded calling

Branded calling shows your business name, and on some carriers a logo and verified badge, on the recipient's screen instead of a bare number. If you want it on your main outbound number, ask support. It takes about two weeks to go live. Fees are passed through at cost and confirmed first.

### 3\. Confirm STIR/SHAKEN is signing your calls

K3X numbers are provisioned through Twilio with STIR/SHAKEN signing on. You do not have to do anything. If a recipient's carrier shows your calls as unverified, contact support and we will check the attestation level.

### 4\. Slow down and lengthen calls

Analytics treat very short calls as spam. If you power-dial 80 numbers a day and most calls end under ten seconds, no registration will save the number. Aim for:

- Calls that average over 30 seconds, including voicemails.

- Consistent volume. 50 calls a day every day beats 250 one day and zero the next.

- Several numbers if you do high volume. Five numbers at 50 calls each are tolerated better than one at 250. Assign a number per rep in **Settings → Phone & Voicemail**.

### 5\. Do not keep a burned number

A label can take months to lift even after you fix the behavior. Sometimes the fastest path is to release the number and buy a fresh one, then register it on day one. Releasing is permanent.

## How to check

Install a caller ID app such as Truecaller or Hiya on a personal phone and call it from your K3X number. You see exactly what your prospects see. Repeat weekly for your main outbound numbers.

## What does not help

- **Switching numbers without changing behavior.** You build a new bad reputation.

- **Asking recipients to remove the label.** It comes from their carrier, not their contacts.

- **Filing complaints with Verizon or AT&T.** They have no consumer-facing appeals. Registration with the analytics partners is the channel.
