# What the Command Center is and how to open it

The Command Center is the AI bar at the bottom of K3X. Ask a question or give a command and it does the work.

The **Command Center** is the pill at the bottom center of every K3X screen. Click it (or press its keyboard shortcut) and type a question or a command in plain English. It answers, drafts, updates records and builds Database searches for you.

## Open it

1.  Look at the bottom center of the app for the **Command Center** pill. It shows a keyboard shortcut next to its label (the ⌘ key plus a letter on Mac).
    
2.  Click the pill or press the shortcut. A bar appears with the prompt **Ask anything or give a command...**
    
3.  Type and press Enter. The bar expands into a chat so you can see the answer and keep going.
    
4.  Press Escape or click away to close it. Your conversation is there when you come back.
    

## The new AI Chat Bar

K3X 2.0 gave the Command Center a cleaner, simplified AI Chat Bar. If you used K3X before, it is the same assistant with a new home: it is no longer a side panel and no longer a tab. It floats over whatever you are looking at, so you can ask about the record or list on screen without leaving it.

## What it knows

The Command Center works inside your workspace. It can read your Companies, People, deals, timelines (emails, calls, SMS, meetings, notes) and agents, and it knows which record or list you have open. Ask "What happened with Acme while I was out?" and it reads the Acme timeline rather than guessing.

## Three ways to use it

-   **Ask**: "Which companies in Demo Booked have not replied this week?"
    
-   **Command**: "Move the Acme deal to Trial Started." Write actions show you the change before it applies.
    
-   **Search the Database**: "Create a database search for roofing company owners in Georgia." The Database tab's **+** button opens the same box.
    

## On a selection

Select rows in Companies or People and the Action Bar appears at the bottom. Its **Commands** button sends your instruction to the Command Center with those records already in scope. See "Run a command on a selection".

## Credits

Each request spends a small amount from your AI credits, which come from the same pool as calling, texting and data reveals. Short questions cost less than long drafting tasks. Watch the AI Credits line in the Credit breakdown (click your avatar, then the **Usage this cycle** bar).

## Where the assistant can also live

If your team already works in Claude or ChatGPT, connect K3X in **Settings → Authorized Apps** and ask the same things from there.
